Wildcats are headed for the Play-offs

Though we got off to a shaky start with three straight losses to Marion Co., Walker Valley, and Stone Memorial, our Hixson Wildcats have come back to win their last 5 games.  Following a week off from the first three losses, the team re-grouped and had a very successful week of practices.  We got our first win September 16 against East Hamilton, 21-18.  This is the first time the Wildcats have beaten EH since we started playing them. This win charged the team up for their next game, which saw the defense keep  East Ridge from scoring. Hixson won that game 7-0.

September 30 was Homecoming, and the Wildcats wanted to definitely claim a victory against the Cumberland Co. Jets, who they lost to in the last minute of the game last year in Crossville.    Hixson won 20-13. Congratulations to Rachel Worley, who was elected the 2016-17 Homecoming Queen.

The Wildcats played at Central for their homecoming on October 7 and put a pounding on the Purple Pounders. The final score was Hixson 38-Central 9.

In our second meeting with Sequoyah High School of Madisonville, TN, the Chiefs were hoping to rebound from their loss last year at home to the Wildcats.  That wasn't meant to be, as Hixson went on to win the game 40 to 20.  It was a great night for our Seniors, who were recognized before the game.  This victory opens up an opportunity we didn't get last year--going to the playoffs.

Our next game is an away game against Livingston Academy, where Hixson will play on October 21.  We hope to bring a number of Wildcat fans ready to scream and yell our team on to another victory. If we win this game, we will get to host our first game of the playoff.

The final game of our regular season  will be played at Soddy Daisy, against the Trojans.  This will be the first annual MET bowl, organized by Dallas Bay Baptist Church and sponsored by an number of businesses. The winner of this game will get a trophy and bragging rights until the next season. Come out and cheer our Wildcats on against SD.
